The Centre for Handicapped together with Cerebral Palsy Lanka Foundation organized a Medical Camp at our Centre’s premises which included a Dental Mobile Unit, Eye Screening, Speech Therapy and Training for parents whose children were using mobility aids. It was a great success and well attended by approximately 400 persons including 160 children from the Central Province, 120 children were provided with special wheel chairs while 40 of them were able to walk with therapy.
A Short Story of a Recipient
Mr. K. M. P. Wijesundara is 26 years old and lives with his family in Inguruwatte located in the Kurunegala District. "It was the most unforgettable day of my life" he said.
He was driving on his way home when he was hit by a vehicle moving very fast. He was badly injured and immediately taken to the Kurunegala hospital by the people around him. The Doctors there informed him that his leg should be amputated from below the knee. So he underwent a surgery and was hospitalized for more than a week.
"I came to know about this Centre from an officer. I visited the place and was warmly welcomed by the staff, I explained my difficulties in obtaining a limb. They understood my situation and decided to give me a limb for free since there was a donor".
"I was fitted with an artificial limb which was made for me, I was very happy when I was able to walk again".
13th Memorial Donation
Sun and Asoka Group of Companies donated 11 artificial limbs in memory of the Late Mr.T.R.R.Rajan. (Founder, Chairman of Sun and Asoka Group of Companies and former Chairman of CFH) On this occasion, the Staff of Sun and Asoka Group Ltd established yet another Permanent Fund in memory of the Late Mr. P.T. Rajan– JP & Mrs. Pushpam Rajan.
