Gerard Shamil Niranjan Peiris
Gerard Shamil Niranjan Peiris is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants – Sri Lanka, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – UK, the British Institute of Management – UK, and the Credit Institute of Management – Sri Lanka and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
He has more than 41 years of experience at the senior executive level serving as Group Finance Director of the Central Finance Group of Companies a prestigious Sri Lankan company. Subsequent to his retirement, he continues to serve as Chairman of four companies in the Central Finance Group.
He is a committed social worker and is the second senior most Member of the Rotary Club of Kandy which is the 4th oldest Rotary Club in the country chartered in 1941. He is currently the Senior Vice President of the Club and has been directly involved in a wide range of humanitarian programmes.
Boniface Srilal Mendis
Boniface Srilal Mendis currently works as Hospitality consultant after a career of 40 years in the Hospitality Industry.After leaving the German/Ceylon Hotel School joined Pegasus Reef Hotel managed by British Hotels Company as Front office Manager and after a training period in the UK was promoted as Assistant Manager in 1977.
After he worked Al Jazira hotel as Hotel Manager in 1980 and then became General Manager in 1982 and traveled to many countries in marketing the Hotel, as well for Management meetings. In 1991 migrated to Australia and worked there till 1995 and moved to Sri Lanka and Joined as General Manager of Habarana hotel Complex of John Keells Hotels.
Became Director /GM in 1998 and Assistant vice President in 2000 looking after many hotels in the Group. Retired in 2014 and was member of the Classification committee of the SLTDA for two years.
Currently holds the position of treasurer at CHF and Senior Advisor to SACK and Treasurer and Board Director of Lions club of Kandy Senkadagala.
Ayesha Imbuldeniya WIijerathne
Ayesha was educated at Mahamaya Girls’ College, Kandy, where she was an active debater, a leading light in the Girl Guides movement, and the President of the English Literary Association and Drama Society, a midst the myriad of other activities. Ayesha joined the Rotaract Club of Kandy in 1986 and the Rotary Club of Kandy in 2001 where she has been the Bulletin Editor, Vocational Service Director, Secretary and Vice President.
She was the 69th President and 2nd Lady President of the Rotary Club of Kandy. She presided the year 2009/2010 and was named the best President of the Rotary District 3220. Under her leadership the Club won 37 District and International awards, including Best Club Award and, RI certificate for Membership Growth and Retention.
She served as an Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 3220, Sri Lanka in the year 2011/2012. She had under her purview the Rotary Clubs of Jaffna, Trincomalee, Colombo Mid City, Colombo West and Kandy Metropolitan.
She was also on the Executive Committee of Alliance Francaise of Kandy for 10 years, serving as Vice President in charge of Student Activities for four of those years. She is currently the Treasurer of the Zonta Club of Kandy and served as its President from 2018 – 2022.
Her professional life is in Administration and Human Resource Management and includes a stint in advertising, working with Trikaya Grey Advertising First Serve (Now GREY WORLD WIDE), Adelphi Electronics followed by work as a freelance journalist at the Kandy News. Freelance interior design is yet another string to her (career) bow. She retired as the Consultant – HR, Administration & Establishment at Sinhaputhra Finance PLC in 2019.
She is a philanthropist and works for the betterment of less privileged.
I.R.M. Rajapaksha
I.R.M Rajapaksa worked as a trainee teacher at St. Agnes Convent in Matale from 1970 to 1977. She has been a volunteer member of the Sumithrayo Kandy branch since 1992 and served as president from 2019 to 2021.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Centre for Handicapped Kundasale.
Duncan Nugawela
An old student of St Anthony’s college Kandy and in 1971 started the professional career At Insurance Corporation of Sri Lanka for 10 years till 1980. During this period completed the Diploma in Insurance and 1981 joined Ceylinco Insurance co as a liaison Officer and,
• In 2001 appointed to the Board as a Director
• In 2017 retired as the Director Operations
• After completing 37 years at Ceylinco
• At present representing Ceylinco Insurance PLC as a member of the Board
R.E.V. Greve
RoseMarie Greve was an official of the International Labour Organization (ILO) who retired in December 2007. During the larger part of her thirty three year career with the ILO she was based at the ILO’s International Institute for Labour Studies (IILS) in Geneva where she was involved in its research and teaching activities and was the Editor of its academic journal Labour and Society. From 1993 to 1999 she was the Head of its Educational and Intersectoral Programmes which included the responsibility for the publications of the IILS, the design and running of educational activities and conferences in Geneva and elsewhere and for its public relations. In 1999 she was appointed the first Director of the new ILO Office in Hanoi with responsibility for establishing an ILO office and programme in Viet Nam. She received the prestigious Friendship Medal from the Government of Viet Nam for her work in that country.
With Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees in the social sciences she has specialized in labour issues, including labour-management relations, quality of working life, new forms of work organization and women’s employment and has several publications on these issues.
She is currently an active member of several service organizations, including the Rotary Club of Kandy where she served on the Board for several years, including as its President in 2013 – 2014.
B.D.R. Rajan
Deshamanya B.D.R. Rajan is the Chairman/Managing Director of Sun Match Company the market leader in the safety matches industry. He is also the Chairman/ MD of Greenhill International School which is a leading educational institute run in Kandy. He possesses over 40 years of experience in Management and technical skills and currently sits on the board of
several institutes under the mercantile sector.
B.D R Rajan was elected to serve as Governor for Rotary in Sri Lanka in 2009/10 and has carried out several humanitarian projects for over US $ 1 Million under the focus areas of Economic Development, Water and Sanitation and Basic Education for underprivileged in every part of the
country. BDR Rajan is an all island justice of peace and also a recipient of Rotary International‘s highest accolade ‘Service above self ‘award which is given to a selected group of 150 outstanding people, chosen among the globe of 1.3 million Rotarians.
He has held leadership positions in several organizations including Board Member of Central Province Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as President of Sri Lanka India Cultural Association & Treasurer of Kandy Industrial Park Investors Association.
Jeeva Rajan
Jeeva Rajan is a graduate from the University of Madras with a BSC in Mathematics and has been actively involved and served on the board of several non profit organisations Currently she serves as Secretary of the 4th oldest Rotary Club in Sri Lanka , the Rotary Club of Kandy , Vice President of Sri Lanka India Cultural Association and Colombo Friend In Need Society, Member of Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Jaipur Foot, Colombo and many other organizations
Jeeva served as President of Zonta Club of Kandy and was recognized by the Chief Minister of Central Provincial Council for the 20 years of services rendered for the benefit and well-being of people of Sri Lanka.
By occupation she is a Director of Sun Match Company founded by her husband late T R R Rajan which today is the producer of the market leader in the safety match industry in Sri Lanka. She also sits on board of Greenhill International School Kandy.
